Length: 250 cm
Width: <2 cm
Colours: brown, plant dyed medium green
Material: 100% Norwegian wool
Location: 9th century Norway
Double sided belt long enough to be wrapped once or twice around the waist, perfect for giving shape to a Viking dress, coat or tunic.
The green yarn was dyed with yarrow and iron (it is slightly variegated in colour). The brown is factory dyed.
Its pattern is based on an archeological find dated to 834 AD. The finding place is Oseberg in the south-east part of Norway. The band was a part of grave goods in a ship burial, one of the richest ever found.
