The original find which I based my band on is dated around 500 A.D. The finding place is Hægebostad in the southern part of Norway. The name Snartemo i the name of the nearby farm, where was an extensive burial site discovered.
''Snartemo II'' is the name of a particular grave which among many other things contained a garment decorated with a 2-coloured tablet woven trim. The original woolen band was very fine: Even though it was only approximately 0.9 cm wide, it was woven on 17 tablets. This means that threads were only 0.5 mm thick!
The material I use is finely spun, locally produced sheep wool. The supplier provided a high quality 2-ply yarn with surprisingly smooth finish which helped to bring out the unique texture of this band.
